Updates and Headaches

Its been a while 🙂

In the period since my last post (sans the financing my MBA post), I have resigned my job, obtained my visa, booked my flight home (I’ve got some free time to spend with the family) booked my flight to Chicago and finalized my living arrangements. I’m going to give a brief description of the Visa process & apartment hunting (it may not be useful to some) but …

 

On a lighter note…

I’m currently sitting in the saloon getting my hair done. Which means I’ve got some free time even if it is just a few hours. Anyway, a few things just occurred to me:

I’ll need a new saloon
I’m hungry – I’m gonna miss Nigerian food.

 

Divergent Roads

I’m here!!!

I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a long while and I apologize for that. Some of it is laziness but most of it is being overwhelmed; by work, plans and decisions. It occurred to me that I never posted my decision here so that’s what I’m here to do. Unsurprisingly I accepted Booth’s offer. Surprisingly, I have decided (haven’t sent the actual email but decision’s been made) to withdraw my Sloan application.

 

For Round 2 interviewees

First, let me say: Congrats on your invite!!

I’ve been getting a few emails from round two applicants that recently received interview invitations. So I decided to put this up to help as many as need it. I’ve listed the things I did to prepare for my interview. You can also check my interview debriefs: Booth & Sloan. And Fi’s Stanford debrief (P.S: she got in!!!)

 

I have no pink shoes

First off I’d like to wish all round two applicants the very best of luck in their applications. Hope you get into your dream schools.

Since my admission to Booth, I have being immersed in the Booth culture and I can say that I did not make a mistake in my initial analysis. Also, I am now much more certain that I can flourish in that environment. I have also noted that I am not as open to change as I thought I was. I know I will be going to business school this fall but I’m not as elated about it as I should be and this has nothing to do with the school I got into (which is a great school).

I will be leaving my home, my job, my friends. Everything that is familiar to me. As much as I’m excited, I’m scared out of my wits. And that is the reason why my mind keeps wandering; developing a pro/con list based on the things that I love and the things I don’t

Where I am now.

Cloud 9.

Less half.

I had already started a Booth vs Sloan comparison before I received decisions from both schools. Now I have to decide whether I want a spot in Sloan’s waitlist or not. Before Dec 22. Sadly, I wasn’t planning to make that decision this year.

 

Waiting for the rain part 2

I’m waiting for  Booth and Sloan to release their admission decisions. So far,  I don’t feel stressed but it has occurred to me that I need to start planning for school. Maybe not the finer details since I’m not yet sure of which state I will be going to. But I’m doing a lot of dreaming, hoping and praying. And budgeting, and planning and wondering.

 

My Sloan interview debrief

So I had my long-awaited Sloan interview less than two days ago and it went well, very well but not excellently which is probably why I have not come to update everyone n how it went. My major issue is realizing after the interview that all the questions had a similar theme (teamwork) and knowing that I did not notice that while the interview was going on. Also, I know I used the STAR and PAR method and that I showed my thought process in some answers. It’s just that my clearadmit interview guide encouraged showing how you felt in your answers and I don’t think I did that which makes me feel disappointed.
