Happy New Year!!! And round two help :)

Congrats everyone!!! We’re in the year when most of us will be resuming at Business schools 🙂

This is going to be very brief but I know it’ll help someone. This post is specifically for round two applicants yet to submit. Two things I want to say:

  • The entire application matters. Looking back at my applications, I realize that there are a lot of things my essays did not address but I see them addressed in other parts of my submission. So take the time to read through the online application, your resume and your essays. Don’t take any one piece for granted.

Rain! Finally!! – From Booth with Love

Do you know how it feels to receive an invite on the last day of the the mid-decision week?

All the scenarios that your mind will dream of and discard? How many mini heart attacks? The tears, the words, the joy, the pain and the hopelessness of it all? Going into the last day of interview invites from Booth, I was at that point where I really wanted it all to end. I was still holding on to a tiny smudge of hope and struggling to encourage myself (which is why I am writing this post by 9:30am WAT (UTC+1) – a long time before the final invites are released). I stopped checking gmatclub forum earlier this week because my heart could not handle all the excitement.

Happy Independence (Freedom)!!!

I’m writing this from the heaven that is known as “post MBA application”. I finally submitted the other two application with a lot more drama than the first two. Before I give you the gist, allow me to say “Happy Independence day!” to my beautiful motherland.  For those of you that don’t know, Naija is what the average Nigerian calls Nigeria informally. So now you know how much I love the country 😀 The timing is perfect, Nigeria celebrates her independence, I celebrate submitting my applications. Now the details on Stanford and Wharton Read the rest of this entry »

Catching my breath

Its been a really long while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been busy putting final touches on my applications and submitting them 😀

SLOAN: I managed to get my Sloan application in. Just barely. No I did not submit something I wasn’t comfortable with just because I wanted to submit in round one. When I say barely, I mean the current student looking at the essay had a little over a week to review them, which meant I only got two reviews. Read the rest of this entry »

Half-way Mark

According to my initial plan, I should be completely done with my applications and just be putting finishing touches on my essays. But I am not. However, I am happy to say that my application for two out of the four schools I am applying to is ready. Essays are out for a final review, recommenders have committed to submitting this week and I have gone over the online application with a fine toothed comb. Read the rest of this entry »

Presentations rock

Caffeine is my new best friend and Booth rocks for giving me the opportunity to create an awesome presentation. If consultants have a language it’ll be presentations and I’m very fluent in that language if I have to say so myself. However, I am aware that some people do not have the same love for presentations that I have but still want to send in an amazing presentation so I’m going to summarize my ‘introduction to presentations’ study pack (pecks of being a hoarder, I still have those from 2008), I hope its useful: Read the rest of this entry »

Mixed feelings

The essays are coming up well. actually, better than well. I can report progress on Stanford, Booth and Wharton essays. Sloan is on a different wavelength but I am certain I will tackle it within the next few days. I’ll get into more details on my approach (more or less; the things that are working for me thus far) but first I want to tell you what’s giving me mixed feelings: I just got out of my supervisor’s office and he’s heard from the grapevine that I am planning to leave for school. While he is supportive of the idea, it now means I may not be able to get into the projects I wanted to get into while I was still here and that really saddens me. He did promise that it would not impact on the decision for the short-term project assignments. I hope get admitted in round one otherwise I may lose out on more than one end.
