Happy New Year!!! And round two help :)

Congrats everyone!!! We’re in the year when most of us will be resuming at Business schools 🙂

This is going to be very brief but I know it’ll help someone. This post is specifically for round two applicants yet to submit. Two things I want to say:

  • The entire application matters. Looking back at my applications, I realize that there are a lot of things my essays did not address but I see them addressed in other parts of my submission. So take the time to read through the online application, your resume and your essays. Don’t take any one piece for granted.

Happy Independence (Freedom)!!!

I’m writing this from the heaven that is known as “post MBA application”. I finally submitted the other two application with a lot more drama than the first two. Before I give you the gist, allow me to say “Happy Independence day!” to my beautiful motherland.  For those of you that don’t know, Naija is what the average Nigerian calls Nigeria informally. So now you know how much I love the country 😀 The timing is perfect, Nigeria celebrates her independence, I celebrate submitting my applications. Now the details on Stanford and Wharton Read the rest of this entry »

Catching my breath

Its been a really long while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been busy putting final touches on my applications and submitting them 😀

SLOAN: I managed to get my Sloan application in. Just barely. No I did not submit something I wasn’t comfortable with just because I wanted to submit in round one. When I say barely, I mean the current student looking at the essay had a little over a week to review them, which meant I only got two reviews. Read the rest of this entry »

Half-way Mark

According to my initial plan, I should be completely done with my applications and just be putting finishing touches on my essays. But I am not. However, I am happy to say that my application for two out of the four schools I am applying to is ready. Essays are out for a final review, recommenders have committed to submitting this week and I have gone over the online application with a fine toothed comb. Read the rest of this entry »

Mixed feelings

The essays are coming up well. actually, better than well. I can report progress on Stanford, Booth and Wharton essays. Sloan is on a different wavelength but I am certain I will tackle it within the next few days. I’ll get into more details on my approach (more or less; the things that are working for me thus far) but first I want to tell you what’s giving me mixed feelings: I just got out of my supervisor’s office and he’s heard from the grapevine that I am planning to leave for school. While he is supportive of the idea, it now means I may not be able to get into the projects I wanted to get into while I was still here and that really saddens me. He did promise that it would not impact on the decision for the short-term project assignments. I hope get admitted in round one otherwise I may lose out on more than one end. Application Status

In less than 50 days, I will be submitting my application for at least one of my chosen schools (Sloan has the honour of being the school with the tightest deadline for me). Here’s a look at where I am now with respect to my MBA applications

GMAT: Done (710 – well within the 80% range for all the schools I’m applying to) Read the rest of this entry »

Application Advice & June roll-call

June has already ended! One major thing that happened this month was that I got a lot of advice from people (current students, Alumni, Colleagues, even Adcoms – from events I attended). So I’m putting them up here so that everybody can benefit from them, you can add yours in the comment section so I can also benefit from them. They are listed in no particular order:

  • The entire application is important; use every bit of it. Let your all your responses and answers demonstrate that you are ideal for the school.
