Happy New Year!!! And round two help :)

Congrats everyone!!! We’re in the year when most of us will be resuming at Business schools 🙂

This is going to be very brief but I know it’ll help someone. This post is specifically for round two applicants yet to submit. Two things I want to say:

  • The entire application matters. Looking back at my applications, I realize that there are a lot of things my essays did not address but I see them addressed in other parts of my submission. So take the time to read through the online application, your resume and your essays. Don’t take any one piece for granted.

That’s all it really is.

Admission decisions are due next week and like a lot of people, I’m holding my breath. But I feel the need to put this out here. Hopefully, it will help someone put things in perspective.

We are all great people doing something very wonderful with our lives. We have dreams and goals and things we want to do. Going to business school is NOT the goal, it has never being. The process is so consuming that it becomes easy to lose sight of our goal and focus on something else. Business school is a step towards achieving the goal. Read the rest of this entry »

True Heroes

Hero (n):  a person, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

As my application journey gradually comes to a (happy) end, I would like to say a few words about the unspoken and uncelebrated heroes of this process. The people who made my application what it was, gave me invaluable advice, encouraged me to push myself harder and most of all, ensured that I kept sharing my journey regardless of the emotions I was feeling. These people are my new friends, potential classmates and fellow MBA application bloggers 🙂 Bet you didn’t see that coming 😛 Read the rest of this entry »

While waiting…

As all my good friends know, patience is not one of my strong points. And Stanford is stretching beyond what I thought was my capacity but I am handling it just fine. Sort of. There are three things occupying most of my thoughts at this time: Read the rest of this entry »

Rain! Finally!! – From Booth with Love

Do you know how it feels to receive an invite on the last day of the the mid-decision week?

All the scenarios that your mind will dream of and discard? How many mini heart attacks? The tears, the words, the joy, the pain and the hopelessness of it all? Going into the last day of interview invites from Booth, I was at that point where I really wanted it all to end. I was still holding on to a tiny smudge of hope and struggling to encourage myself (which is why I am writing this post by 9:30am WAT (UTC+1) – a long time before the final invites are released). I stopped checking gmatclub forum earlier this week because my heart could not handle all the excitement.

Waiting for the rain

I am one of those people who like to be in control so this phase of the application process is the most stressful for me. Waiting and knowing that there really is nothing you can do at this time to influence that decision is really difficult. Thankfully I have not had the time to focus on the wait. I want to say …

A lot of things to a lot of people. Being able to submit my applications in round one is a direct result of the effort, time and emotions put into the applications by a lot of people. So this post is to say some of the things I want to say to all of you.

First, I want to say “I’m sorry”. Read the rest of this entry »
